The acquisition of U.N. Ro-Ro was approved by the competition authorities last week and today the transaction was finally completed. Thereby U.N. Ro-Ro is now officially part of DFDS.
Niels Smedegaard CEO of DFDS said “The very first thing I have really been looking forward to doing is warmly welcoming our many new Turkish colleagues to DFDS. We have been looking carefully at U.N. Ro-Ro for some time and seen how well the company fits in with DFDS and the way we operate our North Sea business in particular. With them, I know we will get skilled and dedicated colleagues who have been able to build the strongest ro-ro network between Turkey and the EU. And they have demonstrated the utmost professionalism in operating a fleet of 12 efficient and well-maintained ro-ro ships.”
“We have had the pleasure of cooperating with U.N. Ro-Ro’s management for some time in preparing for the integration of U.N. Ro-Ro into DFDS, and this has shown how similarly we look at business, how much we can learn from each other, and how valuable the ability to combine the two will be for the future DFDS.”
U.N. Ro-Ro will be organised as a new Business Unit in the Shipping Division under the name BU Mediterranean, which will consist of the business from U.N. Ro-Ro and the Marseille – Tunis route. It will be under the management of Senior Vice President Selçuk Boztepe and his current management team.
